In 1899, Herbert Lahout, emigrated from Lebanon to the United States. In 1920, he opened his first dry goods and grocery store in Littleton, New Hampshire's Old Grange Hall - the same building that today houses Lahout's Country Clothing & Ski Shop.
Herbert's only son, Joe, gradually expanded Lahout's after World War II to accommodate the increasing popularity of skiing at Cannon Mountain and neighboring ski areas in the pristine White Mountains of New Hampshire.
In 1986, Herbert's grandsons opened Lahout's Country Clothing & Ski Shop and
Discount Warehouse in Lincoln, NH, facilitating its transition from mill town
to first-class ski resort for those seeking a progressive and active
lifestyle.
Ninety years and four generations later, Lahout's is the oldest ski shop in America.
Today, Lahout's cherishes its unique legacy as an old country market. The first shop still exudes its small-town charm and has earned a reputation for carrying the latest styles and trends from hundreds of top-name brands, as well as a fabulous selection of snowboard, ski and outdoor gear.
